ABOUT 

​Founded by Principal Specifier Vivian Volz in 2009 and incorporated as Vivian Volz Architects, Inc., in 2015, VVAS serves primarily as project specifier for architect-led projects. The core staff of three writes and coordinates architectural specifications for a rich variety of project types, including workplace design, buildings and campuses, affordable multi-family housing, market rate multi-family housing, hospitality, office, civic buildings, and retail brand showrooms.

 

VVAS’ experience with green building systems includes CALGreen, LEED, WELL, GreenPoint Rated, and Living Building Challenge petals, along with owner-led healthy-building initiatives.

 

VVAS is a Women Business Enterprise (WBE) certified by The Supplier Clearinghouse and a Small Business (Micro Business) certified by the State of California.

PRINCIPAL SPECIFIER

Vivian Volz

Vivian Volz is an experienced project architect in architectural and interior design work. She began preparing architectural specifications in 2001. She served as specifications leader for the Northwest US region of Gensler, an international architecture and design firm, where she helped develop the firm's LEED documentation requirements and sustainable design specifications.

Specialties: Architectural and interior design specifications, general construction materials research, sustainable design, leadership in specification practice.

As a longtime resident of the San Francisco Bay Area, Vivian knows the physical and jurisdictional challenges of Northern California especially well. But her experience has taken her, virtually, to the four corners of the US and occasionally to China. She is honored to serve repeat clients with multiple locations, including Seattle, Chicago, and New York City.
